Hello all,
If you want to get a hold of me during the three day period of July 12 - 14, 2002, you'll have to call me on my cell phone because I'll be out for a three-day walk. I'll be participating in a very special and powerful event in the fight against breast cancer. It's called the Avon Breast Cancer 3-Day.
I'll be walking 60 miles in three days (yes, really!) from San Jose to San Francisco with at least 3,000 other courageous people to raise money for breast cancer research. The net proceeds will support the Avon Breast Cancer Crusade's mission to fund access to care and find a cure for breast cancer, with a focus on medically underserved women (and men).
This year, 182,000 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer and 40,000 will die. Additionally, 1500 MEN will be diagnosed and 400 will die. This disease affects our mothers, sisters, daughters, grandmothers, aunts, uncles, fathers, grandfathers, brothers, and sons. Even if you are not directly affected, chances are high that you know someone who is, or who will be.
There are ONE MILLION WOMEN TODAY who have breast cancer but do not know it.
That is why I am walking so far - to do something bold about breast cancer and in honor of my grandmother Connie Noble and great aunt Blythe Christlieb who have already been affected. I hope you'll share in this adventure by supporting me in my fundraising efforts.
